Krakenkerbal

Author of this page always thought the "Jool Kills Kerbals" effect was intentional, but it is actually a kraken glitch.

The Deep Space Kraken is a well known glitch that involves errors with the physics engine, causing strange errors with the game.  There are many forms of the Kraken.

Well Known Forms[]

Common Kraken/General Kraken

Although this kraken has been removed by an update, this kraken is one of the more well known krakens.  The kraken would destroy your ship by moving pieces apart.  This kraken would happen rarely when exiting the Map or IVA screens.

DANCE CRAKEN

if you have too many solar panels bunched together it starts wobbling like crazy and you can’t stop. No parts explode or get torn apart like the common kraken.

Kerbal Speed Kraken/Warp Kraken

This kraken occurs after a Kerbal leaves a ship after a very high speed time warp.  They may go blasting off at an astonishing speed, easily beating the speed of light.

6K Launch Kraken/6 Death Kraken

This kraken rarely occurs when a rocket reaches 6000 meters up in Kerbin's atmosphere. It launches a rocket at high speeds, creating a warped engine sound and an extremely powerful wobbling effect.  This glitch has occured with the author of this section, Ragonoid, multiple times.  It also has a chance to freeze your game.

Ass Kraken

This kraken is extremely rare, happening when loading quicksaves.  The screen gets filled with fire particles, and the game crashes and deletes all vehicles, excluding EVA's and Flags. While the game is filled with fire particles, the screen also turns white and has a corrupted HUD. Similarly to the Censor Kraken, the tech tree is corrupted. However, no nodes are randomly unlocked.

Less well known forms[]

Kerbin Kraken[]

The Kerbin Kraken is a bug found in 0.25 to 1.0 or earlier than 0.25. It is a fairly small glitch that attacks when you are time-warping toward Kerbin and you enter the map screen. When the ship crashes into Kerbin with the map screen open, Kerbin will explode and you will be on an escape velocity out of the solar system. It's a quite ancient Kraken, and it has been patched, although it's been thought to be associated with the Liquid Kraken which still exists today.

Liquid Kraken[]

If you collide with any planet while timewarping too fast, you may pass through the planet as if it was liquid. It's likely related to the Kerbin Kraken. This is by far the easiest Kraken to reproduce, however it's not very well known.

It's most common when timewarping on a collision course with Kerbin from a direct freefall from Mun/Minmus missions. This Kraken is also the least devastating physics kraken, as all that is lost is some time.

Newly discovered krakens/Super rare krakens[]

Censor Kraken[]

This kraken occurs when you load a quicksave in which a dead Kerbal is alive. It's quite rare, Author of this page only got it once. The science tree resets itself and all of the rocket parts in the editor turn pitch black, like if they were censored. Some late-science-tree stuff is randomly unlocked, as the tree gets corrupted.

This Kraken corrupts the savefile and the tree is permanently corrupted, ruining it. The censored effect only happens within the VAB or the SPH. The effect stays after a restart, however in a different save it doesn't appear unless you have visited the save with the Kraken.

Censorkraken

The Censor Kraken's censor/blackout effect in the VAB.

If you visit the save with the Kraken, the game is permanently infected with the censored effect in the VAB/SPH. It's impossible to get rid of it by changing graphics settings. The only way to fully rid your game of this kraken is to reinstall the game (or repair the files) and delete your savefile. Interestingly, visiting a save with the kraken seems to damage a lot of the files of KSP. The Kraken itself is not caused by corruption of data files, as repairing the game files and visiting the save with the Kraken still has the censored effect.

This kraken is the rarest Quicksave kraken, and one of the rarest ever recorded. It seems to be a slightly less severe form of the Ass Kraken.

SHIT KRAKEN

It happens when you revert after an explosion. The game prevents you from placing anything. Author of this page named this kraken "Shit Kraken" beacuse he got so mad at the game and when this kraken happened he was going to shit to his pants , carefully Author didn't shit to his pants.
