Kerbals, as they appear in Kerbal Space Program menu.

Kerbals are a race of small green humanoids who are native to the planet Kerbin, serving as a in-game analogs for humans in Kerbal Space Program.

Features[]

The Kerbals are basically humans, just with green skin and strange vocal patterns and speak backwards Spanish. Kerbals can be pilots or occupants of spacecraft/planes, and show a mathematical prowess, being able to calculate and analyse scientific data. They also have a Courage and Stupidity bar, which, besides changing their facial expressions during flight, appear to do nothing. The only playable Kerbals are called Kerbonauts, which are Kerbal astronauts. The four most well-known Kerbals are Bill, Jebediah, Bob, and Valentina Kerman. It also seems that most of the Kerbal's names are 2 words: a common name + a noun. For example, Johnhat Kerman. It should be noted that Kerbals have the last name Kerman.

The Kerbal Courage and Stupidity bars.

It is quite obvious that the kerbal design is based off of the stereotypical martian, excluding the eyes and square head.  Kerbals also seem to be able to bounce off of almost any surface without dying. They also seem to become dust when hit on to the ground to fast.

Similarities to Martians:

  • Strange vocal patterns
  • Green Skin
  • Strange abilities (no blunt force trauma)
  • Strangely shaped head
  • weird language

Similarites to Humans

  • The Kerbals seem to have an average level of intelligance (note: this only applies to Scientists and Wernher von Kerman)
  • Humanoid
  • Bipedal
  • Hair
  • Two Eyes
  • Social Contact
  • Breathes on oxygen

Special Kerbals[]

Some special kerbals include:

  • Jebediah Kerman (Pilot)
  • Bob Kerman (Scientist)
  • Bill Kerman (Engineer)

Culture:

The culture of kerbal's seems to revolve around avitation. almost every building (especially in the old versions) are used for avitation, launching and construction. Because of this it could be possible that kerbals live underwater due to there ability of not being able to drown. But could be disproved due to the reading you get when doing a crew report of Grasslands. All Kerbals follow the religion of Krakenism; the belief of a greater, invisible and cosmic entity known as the Kraken, which is capable of manifesting itself in Kerbals and their vehicles.
